There are seven universities and one college famous for their athletic and academic prowess, and I'd like to share a few details about them, even though I may be unworthy. The Ivy League is prestigious, the greatest in America even prior to the American Revolution.

The Ivy League is made up of Princeton University, Harvard University, Cornell University, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, Columbia University, and Dartmouth College. The most erstwhile university is Harvard founded in 1636, while Cornell was founded last of the eight schools in 1865. The name Ivy League is said to come from the ivy that grow on the exterior of these old buildings that comprise the campuses.

Since there have been sports in college, the league has been contending against each other. The first event held in the U.S. was between Harvard and Yale's boating teams in 1852. Since then, they've added other sports from baseball to water polo with fencing, football, lacrosse, rowing, and squash in between, to name some. They officially became the Ivy League in 1954, even though they'd been unofficially known by that name prior.

In 1954, the Ivy League's founded pact for football was extended to all intercollegiate sports. As said on the agreement, athletic ability doesn't deserve scholarships. Not like other schools in America, the Ivy League doesn't provide athletic scholarships. Scholarship is granted for academic excellence instead.

Achievement in the classroom is the top priority for Ivy League schools. Only the best of the best are accepted with an acceptance rate of 9 per cent to 20 per cent annually. The college admissions process can be a hard battle at any university or college across the country, but here it's absolutely brutal. For no evident cause, students with good test scores are turned down from their Ivy League school of choice sometimes. These schools have a very high number of applicants that the process is not a sure thing.

I was also surprised to find out that even students with better than average test scores are sometimes not admitted to Ivy League schools. Students are viewed as a total package by the college admissions office. Apart from test scores and grades, club and society memberships, leadership positions, extracurricular activities, and the elusive "X" factor are also factored in.

If you want an excellent education, an Ivy League school is the most excellent place to get it. How you present yourself is the key to getting the attention of the college admission offices and getting accepted. The most viable option is to organize all your information in 1 place.

Remember that athletic ability does not get a scholarship to Ivy League schools, so you have to work on getting good grades.

In the early 1970's the UCLA Men's Lacrosse Team was a member of the California Lacrosse Association.  The team competed against other local college teams (including the original rival UC Santa Barbara and California) as well as men's post-collegiate clubs that comprised the CLA.

In 1978, UCLA , UC Santa Barbara, University of California, Stanford University, University of Arizona, Arizona State University and the Claremont Colleges became founding members of the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL).  In the early 90s the WCLL split into Northern and Southern Divisions.  UCLA was a member of the Southern Division A along with Chapman, UCSD, SDSU, Cal Poly SLO and the Arizona Schools.

In the spring of 1997 the WCLL was among the original 6 independent collegiate leagues which came together to form the first ever USILA Collegiate Club National Championships.  The six leagues agreed to certain minimum eligibility requirements and agreed to send their conference champions to the new national championship in St. Louis. The leagues all kept up their own organizations, identites, records, and structures.

In 1998 the USLIA (United States Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates), now the USL-MDIA (United States Lacrosse- Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates), was formed and ran the national championship under US Lacrosse.

Prior to the 2005 season the WCLL "A" was realigned into four divisions.  The UCLA Bruins are currently a member of the WCLL Los Angeles Division.

Those are very good questions.

In the beginning, just hitting the target seems a worthwhile goal. We read, we watch and we listen, all to improve. Do this—don’t do that. Getting a handle on the tangibles, like equipment, is first. Next comes strategies and methods—the mechanics of sporting. Gradually, the game makes more sense. Where to point the armament and how to get it there are calculated and the number of hits begins to outnumber the misses. For those who are patiently building their game, the next round of clays will be better. Slowly but surely we grind concepts into skills. The diligent assembling of techniques, instincts and trust, yields higher scores more often.

Sporting clays is not complex. However, because it is a game of ever-changing variables, actuation progress can appear to be downright unfaithful. It isn’t. Your progress is intact. But you’re right, something is missing. There’s that word inconsistency again. A worthwhile goal would be to meliorate manage these variables, physically and mentally.

A few years back, I had an epiphany I would like to share with you. It hit me, literally, like a thunderbolt. In as few words as possible, here was the revelation. To be consistently successful at fair clays, I believe two things must happen. First, the shooter should know what to do before going into the box. If you can’t break it in your head, you will more than likely struggle in the stand. Second, and most important, the shooter must be healthy to do the aforementioned abstract twice.

Carol’s in her second year, an intermediate, actuation about eight hundred targets a month. Her 75+ cipher confirms her progress. She also struggles with an inconsistent performance. Having just broken eight targets in a row, pointing at the last break she asks, “Why can’t I do THAT all the time?”

From your chair, over the years we’ve been going around the bases covering this topic and that, each digit contributing to the hit or miss. As we work towards a meliorate performance, some techniques deserve a higher antecedency than others. One step at a time, the goal is to get a grip on some consistency. Here is a particularly important step.

Standing behind her and to her right, I was healthy to see something she didn’t. It was true that she broke the target eight times. The cause of her inconsistencies were in those eight targets. What Carol didn’t see was that she used two different actuation methods over the movement of eight targets. In random order, three were shot with swing though and five with a restricted modify of sustained lead. No, I’m not kidding, and yes this is common.

When I asked Carol what method she was using she said, “I think it’s pull away.” Not wanting to over-complicate, I asked her what she saw over the barrel. As do many others, she replied, “I’m not sure.”
